Manor School - Primary school site

Context:

Manor School is a large special school located in the London Borough of Brent. We have almost 200 incredible pupils on roll, from Reception to Year 6.

Our main school site is located on Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise and the Manor School Early Years Centre (MSEYC) is situated 2 miles away on Bridge Road. For specific information about MSEYC please click here.

We have approximately 175 pupils across twenty-one classes at our Chamberlayne Road site. Our nine Key Stage 1 classes are named after flowers and our twelve Key Stage 2 classes are named after trees.

The school boasts impressive outdoor spaces and a number of specialist rooms that enhance curriculum delivery. We are fortunate to have a heated swimming pool on site; this ensures that pupils can access swimming on a regular basis.

Every pupil at Manor School has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and most (approximately 85%) of our pupils have a diagnosis of autism. The school serves pupils with a wide range of learning needs and we have three clearly defined provision pathways, these being: Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme Provisions.

Class sizes range from seven to ten pupils per class. The ratio of pupils to adults depends on the needs of the group and on which provision pathway the class is affiliated with.

As well as developing academic skills, there is a firm focus on the development of functional communication, skills for life and social skills.

The curriculum is well-sequenced and there is a specific focus on supporting pupils to develop knowledge, skills and key vocabulary over time so that they know more, remember more and are able to do more.

Pupils at Manor School follow an adapted version of the National Curriculum. The curriculum is broad and balanced and pupils in all pathways engage in Art, Music, PE, Lifeskills etc.
